We've never really doubted our potential. No, really, we haven't! What Bat of Doom are you talking about?
We absolutely smashed, more like trampled all over Sri Lanka in the Final.
Old man Dravid and Sachin gave us a solid start. Sachin scored his 44th ODI hundred, so what if he needs a runner to reach most of his hundreds these days? We can even get an electronic wheelchair if we have to, but Sachin will score centuries at the top.
Yuvi didn't really look like he was going to get out early, he was all solid. Like a rock, you know.
The youngsters are coming along fine.
It was just a 4 match series at the beginning of the season, they will get better, esp Yusuf.
The bowling was Fantastic. We didn't even need our frontline spinner Yuvi to get the wickets. Harbhajan did well with his medium pace off cutters. Somehow Ishant, RP Singh and Nehra didn't get help from the wicket, like Harbhajan. Ishant doesn't need a break, as soon as his hair grows back, he'll be the world beating fast bowler that we know he is. really, like Samson.
On a more serious note, the Champions Trophy is a disaster waiting to happen, if the bowlers bowl such excellent lines and lengths.
We fielded like tigers. Nehra looked really settled under Jayasuriya's skier. All composure. We knew he was gonna catch it, all the time. What dropped catch by Kohli? We must have gone out for a cuppa.
We're Champions, CHAMPIONS of the shit looking Compaq cup. Gentlemen, rejoice!
Speaking of chamions, we're off to the Champions Trophy next. We'll be Champs there too.
Number one beckons, again
coz we're ace, ACE.
ya hear me?
P.S: ODIs are fine. Not dead, not dying. Its just the English and the Kiwis that take the fun out of it
28 bouncers:
ACE? As in Atrociously Crappy Examples?
No Purna,
Please, atrocius is what we relate Kiwis and Poms to,
We're ACE, as in best,Best.
Ya hear me?
Sorry I don't agree. I love the Kiwis and I'm a Bangladeshi and Saffa fan.
I'll give you the Poms. They should be banned from cricket.
Purna,
to each is own,
that is what the blogosphere is all about.
we don't HAVE to agree about everything.
The kiwis somehow have lost that scrapping quality they had during fleming's era
Aww Prafs, and here I was thinking you were going to defend your team and we would enjoy a good debate. You disappoint me.
Don't be like the Kiwis..find your inner fire!
hey, i still believe India are best.
its just that i'm skipping between work and internet, that i cant be too arsed about a debate.
You shall get your debate Purna, only when the time is right.
:)
Anyways you can find me at prafspatne@gmail.com
we could talk cricket,
cheers
ACE in style too!! Yousuf Pathan's glasses! LOL
The bowling was Fantastic. We didn't even need our frontline spinner Yuvi to get the wickets. Harbhajan did well with his medium pace off cutters.
Lol.
:-)
Seriously, the fielding was sooo atrocious.
And I am worried about Ishant.
Leela used the word atrocious to describe the Indians.
There you go Prafs.
Scorpi,
i like them, but Powar's glares are THE best.
Leela,
i think even the youngsters aren't all that great in the field.
I'm telling you, it's all about the hair, with Ishant. Shouldn't have cut it in the first place.
Purna,
you're reading it all wrong, its just the fielding that Leela finds atrocius.
Wouldn't want to call MSD or RD, that word in front of her.
But atrocius or not, we're winners.
Winners!
We even got a shit looking trophy to show off.
Winner of a cup that is called Compaq.I'm not sure you want to gloat about that.
MSD is atrocious because of his commercials. RD is atrocious by association.
Purna,
Leela used the word atrocious to describe the Indians
Nope. I called their fielding atrocious.
Praf,
Know what else is atrocious? Ishant's hairstyle!
I agree, he shd chop those locks off.
Purna,
Let's get this clear,
you find the boys atrocius because thet play poor cricket or because of the off field activities we're not really bothered about?
a win is a win,so what's so offensive about the gloating?
Leela,
i thought Nehra yapping on about poor fielding, whilst dropping one himself was atrocius
actually, nehra on the playing field is the sort of atrocity that could let to demise of ODIs
I have issues with players who would rather focus on their off field activities rather than their cricket. That's half of your Indian team. They are not consistent and have not been for a while now. I dislike Lee for the same reason. Look at him now. When he is not doing a hundred other things, he is a pleasure to watch.
You are right, we don't care about their off-field activities. Maybe they should listen to us and do the same?
Purna,
to be honest, i, for one, don't really mind the off field activities.
The corporates are cashing in on the popularity of the cricketers.
and who makes them famous?
The team has been doing well off late. (Apart from the t20 debacle)
So, what's wrong with making some extra dough?
I do. Cricket made them famous. The corporates are using that and prostituting it to make more money. Money that they don't need. Corporates are everything that is wrong with this world.
They can make as much extra dough they want, as long as they are not compromising their cricket. Which is what some cricketers have done in the past. I used to be a Indian supporter when I was 7 (because of my Dad!) and I just got frustrated with their lack of commitment to the game. Maybe it has changed, maybe it hasn't. We'll see soon I guess.
So now, you hate the corporates too,
In what way do they lack commitment?
I don't remember losing any games due to lack of 'commitment'
Lack of application,yes.
Inadequate technique, yes
Improper Planning, yes,
Poor fielding, yes,
Can't really buy that one about lack of commitment.
But, that's your own take.
I've always hated corporates. Improper planning and poor fielding are examples of lack of commitment pRAFs. Or do you think the Indian cricket team are just not cut out to plan or field?
Purna,
plans can go wrong, there does not have to be a commitment issue there.
We are winning quite a few matches. So I don't know what you're really trying to prove here.
I get that you hate the team.
But for a unit that has been doin rather well since World cup '07, the boys didn't get this far without commitment.
Also, the message underlying in the post is that all is not rosy with the team, a lot of issues are still unsolved.
The champions trophy could be a world cup 07 type debacle.
maybe you didn't get the sarcasm or i couldn't put it through in words
But as a die hard fan i shall always support my team
You'll see in the coming few weeks what I am talking about.
I got the sarcasm,I also got the die hard fan part. That's the part I wanted to rag ;).
Anyway, it's good that even as a die hard fan you are capable of seeing their flaws. That's always important.
Even i fear the worst is round the corner, a bad gut feeling really.
Hopefully, the injuries and form and fielding issues will be adressed.Soon.
Ragging?
okaaaay..... i thought, we would just go on rambling, off topic
We'll ramble. No worries.
How many writers does BCCI have?!!??!!
i've lost count, really
